As the August 15 governorship election comes closer, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has approved the inclusion of prominent former members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) who recently defected to the Accord in the reconstituted Imole Campaign Council (TICC) .
A statement by the the council’s Media and Publicity Committee, and signed by its Chairman, Rep. Bamidele Salam announced this development.
It said the reconstitution aimed at integrating the new entrants into the campaign structure to enable them play active roles in the party’s electioneering activities.
Those appointed into the apex body of the campaign council include Hon. Folorunsho Bamisayemi, Hon. Ismaila Kolawole, Dr. Tunde Alarape, Hon. Tona Famadewa, Barr. Sunday Ojo Williams, Barr. Ayo Afilaka, Hon. Lekan Oyediran, Hon. Aleem Bakare, Alhaji Mutiu Omotayo, Hon. Semiu Afolabi and Hon. Taiwo Akeju.
The statement added that several other party leaders were assigned to various committees within the campaign council.
The new appointments, include Alhaji Jamiu Olawumi who was named Director of Strategic Communications, and Dr. Desmond Ojumu (a member of the Medical Committee.)
They also included Hon. Ayila Ayinde, Hon. Adesakin and Hon. Azeez Musbau who were named members of the Contact and Mobilisation Committee, and Hon. Lateef Awogbade joined the Reconciliation Committee.
Others include Hon. Ojuade Bukola (member of the Research, Planning and Strategy Committee), Hon. Okiki (member of the Inter-Party Relations Committee), and Hon. Adesiji Adefarakan (member of the Electoral Matters Committee).
Also, the campaign council announced the creation of an Election Surveillance and Voter Education Committee to strengthen voter mobilisation and election monitoring ahead of the governorship poll.
A former Commissioner for Youth, Hon. Yemi Lawal will chair the new campaign council, where Hon. Oyewole Rafiu Abayomi, Hon. Olawuni Felix Olugbenga, Hon. Adeyeye, Hon. Amos Akindiya, Hon. Jelili Danku, Barr. Akintayo Jimoh, Hon. Oyelakin and Hon. Ajibola Dada will serve as members.
