Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa
Ondo State Government has assured accountants in the state’s local government service of career progression.
Giving the assurance, the State Head of Service, Chief Segun Odusanya encouraged accountants in the local government service to continue to put in their best in discharging their duties as they aspire for higher positions.
A statement by the Director of Information in the HOS office, Sina Adeyeye, said Odusanya gave the assurance while speaking with members of the Association of Directors of Finance and Supply, DFS, in the local governments, who paid him a congratulatory visit on his recent appointment.
Odusanya stressed the importance of the roles of the Directors of Finance and Supply to the success of the local governments administration, adding that government would not undermine their offices.
Applauding the liberalisation of the position of Heads Local Government Administration,HOLGA in the state, the Head of Service charged qualified DFS to enlist their interests in becoming HOLGA whenever such opportunity comes as there is no barrier preventing them from occupying the top position.
In his words, “I want to congratulate the local government for libralising the position of HOLGA. Before now, it used to be for only administrative cadre and it was a big war.
“I want to encourage people in this group to enlist their interest to become HOLGA because you have been allowed to get to the very top position by the liberalisation.”
He stressed the need to streamline responsibilities of various categories of officers in the local government administration to avoid conflicting roles in the discharge of their duties.
The Chairman of the association in the state, Mr Marcus Akinduko, in his remarks, has called for more recognition for the position of DFS in the scheme of things within the local government administration.
Akinduko, who described the time of the Head of Service as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs as one with unprecedented achievements, thanked Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the choice of Chief Odusanya for the position.
He prayed for the success of Chief Odusanya as the Head of Service and pledged the support of the association for the office.
