Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has fulfilled his promise to support the family of the late Aderogba, an Accord Party member allegedly killed during the recent political violence in Esa-Oke, by relocating his widow, Tolulope, and her children to Osogbo for safety and proper care.

He also approved full scholarships for the four children of the deceased and extended the gesture to a fifth child who was living with the Aderogba family at the time of the incident. The state government has equally provided accommodation for the family in the state capital.

Adeleke, said the relocation became necessary following concerns over the safety of the widow and her children after she reportedly identified individuals she alleged were involved in her husband’s killing.

On arrival in Osogbo, Mrs. Aderogba was said to have required medical attention, prompting the governor to direct that she receives immediate treatment, which is ongoing.

The relocation was coordinated by the spokesperson of the Imole Campaign Council, Hon. Pelumi Olajengbesi, alongside the member representing Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi. Olajengbesi also made a personal donation to support the bereaved family.

Governor Adeleke later visited the family, assuring them of the government’s commitment to their safety, welfare and the pursuit of justice.

He also raised concerns over reports that some residents of Esa-Oke were still being threatened because of their support for the Accord Party, urging security agencies to act swiftly to prevent further violence.

“I am happy the widow and children are now fully secured here in the state capital. We have made all arrangements for their education and other welfare needs. The state will ensure their safety, care and justice for the late Aderogba,” the governor said.

Speaking on ongoing security efforts, Adeleke said he was closely monitoring the implementation of the directives issued by the Inspector-General of Police through the Deputy Inspector-General of Police.

“It is now almost 72 hours after the meeting, while the Deputy Inspector-General of Police held an operational meeting with service commanders in the state about 48 hours ago.

“We expect the immediate implementation of the directives of the Inspector-General of Police. I hope that no police officer will defy the openly conveyed instructions and operational orders duly issued by the IGP,” the governor stated.

Governor Adeleke extended his condolences to the Aderogba family and reaffirmed his administration’s determination to ensure that those responsible for the killing are apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
