APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru

Mother of the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has passed on.
Basiru, a former Senate spokesperson announced her passing in an emotional tribute posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, expressing gratitude for her life of devotion to Allah and selfless service to humanity.
He wrote, “Alhamdulilah for a life well spent in devotion to Allah and service to humanity! I will always remember your love and the sacrifices you made to enable us become who Allah destined us to be. I love you, Maami, but I accept that we belong to Allah and to Him we shall all return someday. May Allah forgive you and grant you Aljannatul Firdaus.”
Basiru described his late mother as a loving, caring and sacrificial woman whose unwavering support, guidance and prayers played a pivotal role in shaping the lives of her children.
As of the time of filing this report, the family had yet to announce the burial arrangements.
Following the announcement, members of the APC, political associates and other sympathisers across party lines took to social media to express their condolences to the bereaved family.
Among the early mourners were Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, who represents Osun Central Senatorial District; Chairman of Obokun Local Government, Hon. Maroof Ogundipe; and House of Representatives aspirants, Romeo Muideen and Abimbola Amusan.
The outpouring of tributes reflected the late matriarch’s impact and the goodwill enjoyed by the Basiru family.
May Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings, grant her eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, and give the family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
