Master Victor Oluwatobi, the nine-year-old son of a pastor, who was kidnapped three weeks ago in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, has been released.
He was released on Sunday according to the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku
Confirming the development, the commissioner appreciated the efforts of the security agents and every individual who contributed to the safe rescue of the boy.
Ajanaku, at a press briefing according to am aide, Abiodun Omotoso,expressed gratitude to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his prompt intervention and unwavering commitment throughout the period of the boy’s captivity.
He noted that the government’s swift response brought hope and reassurance to the victim’s family, the people of Idogun, and residents across Ose Local Government Area.
Ajanaku recalled that the unfortunate incident occurred on June 5, 2026, when unknown gunmen invaded Ugbosi Quarters in Idogun at midnight, destroying two buildings in an attempt to abduct the landlords.
While the intended targets escaped, Master Victor Oluwatobi was taken away after being left behind during the chaos.
The Commissioner disclosed that the child regained his freedom through coordinated efforts of security operatives who had been working tirelessly to secure his rescue.
He said that the Ondo State Government immediately mobilised the Army, Police, Amotekun Corps, and local vigilantes, who conducted extensive search operations across forests and surrounding communities in pursuit of the kidnappers.
While appreciating the resilience of the victim’s family during the difficult period, Ajanaku commended all security agencies involved in the rescue operation for their professionalism, dedication, and sacrifice.
He assured residents that the government remains committed to strengthening security across the state and ensuring the safety of lives and property.
He added that the successful rescue has been widely welcomed by residents, who have also expressed appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa and the security agencies for their collective efforts.
