Ondo State Chairman, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for what it called ‘his exemplary leadership, prudent management of public resources and unwavering commitment to laying the foundation for the long-term prosperity of the Sunshine State.’
Its State Chairman, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, noted that Aiyedatiwa ‘has continued to distinguish himself as a leader who understands that the true essence of governance lies not in seeking momentary applause or transient political endorsement, but in making decisions that will positively impact generations yet unborn.’
A statement by the party’s spokesman in the state, Mr Steve Otaloro, quoted the chairman saying, Aiyedatiwa ‘has consistently demonstrated the courage to choose the path of posterity by placing the collective interest of the people above personal convenience and political expediency.’
According to the chairman, ‘history often presents leaders with a choice between pursuing immediate popularity and investing in the future.’
Babatunde added, “Public office is a sacred trust. The resources of government belong to all the people of Ondo State and must be deployed responsibly, transparently and judiciously for their benefit.
‘Governor Aiyedatiwa has remained faithful to this principle. Rather than dissipating public funds on actions designed to secure fleeting endorsements, he has channelled government resources into projects and policies capable of transforming the economic fortunes of our state.”
He particularly applauded the Governor’s strategic drive towards industrialisation and investment promotion, describing it as one of the most significant economic initiatives undertaken in recent times in Ondo State.
Also he noted that the renewed confidence being shown by major investors, including the Dangote Group, is a clear indication that Ondo State is once again being recognised as a destination for serious investment and economic growth.
Banatunde’s words, “Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa understands that industries create sustainable prosperity. Factories generate employment, stimulate local businesses, increase internally generated revenue and provide opportunities that endure long after political tenures have ended. This is leadership anchored on vision rather than vanity.”
He said that Ondo State had, in the past, witnessed the painful consequences of missed economic opportunities due to a failure to prioritise long-term collective interests over immediate considerations.
His words, “History reminds us that opportunities lost through short-sightedness can deny generations the benefits they deserve. The economic gains associated with major investments often extend beyond the present generation. They benefit our children and grandchildren.
“We commend Governor Aiyedatiwa for learning from history and ensuring that Ondo State does not repeat mistakes that once cost the state strategic economic advantages.”
He noted that the Governor’s efforts in attracting and reviving large-scale investment initiatives capable of positioning Ondo State as a major industrial hub represent the type of leadership that posterity will celebrate.
The Chairman described Governor Aiyedatiwa as a “calm, prudent and selfless leader whose focus remains fixed on delivering good governance and improving the quality of life of ordinary citizens across the state.”
He said, “True philanthropy in governance is not measured merely by what is given to a few individuals at a particular moment. It is measured by policies that uplift communities, investments that create opportunities and decisions that secure the future of an entire people.
“Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has demonstrated this understanding repeatedly through his actions and priorities.”
According to Babatunde, “The APC therefore urged the people of Ondo State to continue supporting the Governor as he steadily implements policies and programmes aimed at deepening economic growth, expanding opportunities and consolidating the Sunshine State’s position as a destination for investment and prosperity.
“As a party, we are proud of the Governor’s achievements and inspired by his commitment to building enduring institutions rather than temporary monuments to popularity. Posterity will undoubtedly remember leaders who chose sacrifice over self-interest and legacy over instant gratification.
“As the ancient proverb says, ‘A society grows great when men plant trees whose shade they may never sit under.’ Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is planting such trees for the people of Ondo State.
“His legacy will not merely be counted in speeches delivered or applause received, but in the industries established, jobs created, opportunities expanded and lives transformed through purposeful leadership.”
