*I am sure you have heard this word before : “The bitter truth.”*
*Why should we describe a thing as :*
*The bitter truth”?*
*This is the truth that is hard to swallow, but it is still true.*
*Let us look at it very critically :*
*1) The truth is something that is real, factual, not a lie, no embellishments, no sugar-coating of any type.*
*2) Bitter can be said to be something inconvenient or unpalatable, compared to something like a bitter medicine or bitter leaf, which tastes awful, but goes on to heal and help.*
*If you reconcile all of the above together, The Bitter Truth is the fact that hurts your feelings and ego, yet, accepting it is what actually helps your development.*
*Just like Prov 27:5 puts it : “Better is open rebuke than hidden love.”*
*Just consider the following statements :*
*1) “When sunlight comes, man extinguishes the candle-light that sees him through the night”.*
*2) “The day a blind man regains his sight, the first thing he throws away is the stick that has helped him to walk through life”.*
*3) “Once the rain is over, the umbrella becomes a burden for everyone carrying it”.*
*4) “You won’t get better at football if you only practice once a month.” Meaning, practice more, and improve your standard and capacity.*
*Understand that “bitter truths” are normally said out of love.*
*Why do we call it “bitter”? This is because sweet lies feel good for a moment. Just consider things like : “You’re perfect,” “don’t change.” But ultimately this is not the reality.*
*Bitter truth may feel bad. Imagine someone saying to you : “You need to change this habit of yours.” And 4 months down the line, the bitter truth has actually helped you to improve and become better in life.*
*I hope and pray that you will go about your day facing the reality of life, and embracing the bitter truths you need to know and face, so that you can change and improve where necessary.*
Top of the day to you 👍.
