Phone displaying Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger
Facebook and Instagram users worldwide reported difficulties accessing the platforms on Friday, June 12, according to outage tracking websites and complaints shared on rival social media platforms.
Users across the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East said they were unexpectedly logged out of their accounts, greeted by blank feeds, or repeatedly shown “unexpected error” and “query error” messages.
The disruption marks the latest in a series of intermittent outages affecting Meta’s family of apps in recent years.
In a major incident in March 2026, users across several countries were unable to load feeds or access their accounts for several hours.
Outage tracking website DownDetector indicated that more than 100,000 users reported problems logging into Facebook as of Friday afternoon.
The platform also recorded over 9,000 reports of issues affecting Instagram and nearly 20,000 complaints related to Facebook Messenger.
Meta had yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the disruption at the time of filing this report.
Andy Stone, Meta spokesperson, took to X to reveal that the company is “aware people are currently having trouble accessing our services,” adding that Meta is “working on it”.
