Osun State Government has concluded plans to enrol traditional rulers and their spouses across the state into the Osun Health Insurance Scheme as part of efforts to expand access to quality healthcare.

The initiative, according to the Osun Health Insurance Agency (OHIS), followed the directive of Governor Ademola Adeleke aimed at ensuring affordable and accessible healthcare delivery for residents of the state, irrespective of status or background.

The Executive Secretary of OHIS, Dr. Rasaq Akindele, disclosed that the enrolment exercise would commence on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, with officials of the agency scheduled to visit palaces of traditional rulers across the state for registration.

Akindele said the exercise, expected to last for two weeks, reflects the present administration’s commitment to the wellbeing of residents and the recognition of the vital roles traditional rulers play in maintaining peace and development in the state.

According to him, necessary arrangements and logistics have already been put in place to ensure a seamless registration process for the royal fathers and their spouses.

He noted that the gesture would strengthen healthcare access for traditional rulers while appreciating their contributions to unity and social stability in Osun State.

The OHIS boss further assured residents that the agency would continue to implement people-oriented healthcare policies capable of improving the living standards and wellbeing of citizens across the state.
