*There are times in the journey of life that your back is to the wall.*
*By this we are talking of a situation in which :*
*1) You are completely helpless about helping yourself.*
*2) when men may be nowhere to be found to help you or help your situation.*
*3) When friends might have abandoned you to your circumstance or situation.*
*4) When your known strength might have become exhausted or outrightly dissipated and depleted.*
*5) When it will look like you are not winning, or that you will never win the war.*
*Indeed, your situation may be a clear example of a man with his back to the wall.*
*Please permit me to ask you Sir/Ma – “is your present situation like what is being described here?”*
*Please find encouragement and solace in the story of Hezekiah, a King with so much to teach us.*
*According to 2 Kings 18, Hezekiah was a King over the land of Judah, and he ruled for 29 years- 2 Kgs 18 & 19.*
*At a point in time in his life, his back was completely against the wall :*
*The situation was as follows :*
*The nation of Assyria was the strongest nation in the world then. This conquering nation had already defeated all the neighbouring nations of Judah, including the northern kingdom of Israel.*
*The King of Assyria – Sennacherib, mobilized his great army and surrounded the city of Jerusalem in 701 BC.*
*Sennacherib sent messengers to Jerusalem mocking God and King Hezekiah, saying :*
*“No god of any nation has been able to deliver their people from me-” 2 Kings 18:33-35.*
*At this moment, Hezekiah became jittery – he had no army big enough to fight the enemy.*
*He had no allies he could look up to. No man was coming to help him. There was simply no way out for him, and the nation of Judah.*
*But Hezekiah did something remarkable – he went straight to the temple, spread the Assyrian threat letter before God, and prayed: “O Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, O Lord, are God” – 2 Kings 19:19.*
*Always remember that each time you have your back to the wall, there is always God there to look up to :*
*According to Ps 121:[1] I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.*
*[2] My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.*
*When men say you are down and out, always remember that God only has the FINAL SAY.*
*Do you know how God responded to this challenge before Hezekiah?*
*In one singular night, the angel of the Lord struck down 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in the camp where they gathered waiting for the order to attack and destroy.*
*Do you know what Sennacherib did thereafter?*
*He broke camp and went back home.*
*Jerusalem and Judah were saved, without Hezekiah or his soldiers firing a single arrow.*
*Remember : Hezekiah had zero human options left. The walls of Jerusalem were the last line. But God stepped in when it was clear the victory would be His alone.*
*Is your back to the wall? Do what Hezekiah did and you will tell your own story of victory.*
Top of the day to you 👍
