RUGIPO Resumes Full Operations

Normal activities have resumed at the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, Ondo State, RUGIPO, following constructive engagements by the new Management with the institution’s staff unions and relevant stakeholders.

The workers had been on a prolonged strike over the non implementation of the new N70,000 National Minimum Wage, among other issues, until the new Management took over few days ago, and waved the olive branch.

In a statement by the institution’s Directorate of Public Relations and Protocol, on Friday, Management said that “peace has been restored and full academic and administrative activities have resumed across the institution.”

It assured that “payment of the new minimum wage will commence promptly upon receipt of Government approval for its implementation.”

RUGIPO Resumes Full Operations Following Resolution of Industrial Actions”:

“The Management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, under the leadership of the newly appointed Acting Rector, Engr. Olorunwa Sunday Lawson, PhD, wishes to inform the Polytechnic Community and the general public that following constructive engagements with staff unions and relevant stakeholders, peace has been restored and full academic and administrative activities have resumed across the institution.

“Management appreciates the patience, cooperation, and understanding demonstrated by members of staff, students, and stakeholders throughout the period of industrial actions by the various unions.

“The institution also acknowledges the sustained efforts and constructive engagements of all parties towards promoting dialogue, mutual understanding, and institutional stability.

“Management further assures members of staff that payment of the new minimum wage will commence promptly upon receipt of Government approval for its implementation.

“Accordingly, staff are encouraged to continue their lawful duties diligently, while students are advised to remain focused on their academic activities.

“The Polytechnic remains committed to sustaining industrial harmony, institutional stability, and continued progress.
