Why Ondo must walk through path of honour, not valley of shadow of death

Opinion

By Ven. Amb. Nelson Fadoju.

People forget history so easily.

But,history shall always describe mankind. Nobody can run away from history. We need history. We need Civic Education to grow. They are Compass and Lamps like God’s Words to lighten our Paths unto greatness.

Any diversion from them and Truth will lead to catastrophy. God forbids, but,”Ma koja mi Olugbala, kii se Orin akunle ko”.

Let me intervene humbly with all sincerity  of purpose as I did few years ago, when things went hay-wire among the departed Governor Akeredolu, his Deputy, the incumbent Governor now, and their Supporters.

I am not a Partisan Politician, but a Political Animal, A Voter, Broadcaster, Journalist, Writer, Public Analyst, Tax Payer, Lover of Nigeria, who also studied Political Science, Political Theology, and Law, among others, to some extent.

When I saw the danger in the rift, I wrote to some Leaders, Traditional Rulers, Stakeholders, Expert Mediators and Conciliators, and The Media begging them to rise up and mediate in the imbroglio.

I later made visits to some Elders in and outside Akure City notable among who are Chief R.F Fasoranti, Afenifere, Elders, CAN, and Religious Leaders etc.

Thanks be to God for bringing Peace back to Ondo State with the prompt move of Baba Fasoranti/AFENIFERE and other notable Stakeholders who visited President Bola Tinubu thereafter.

Now, taking a cursory look at the situation of things in Ondo State and the handwriting on the wall, there is the need to sound a note of caution for the sake of the People of Ondo State.

This is part of our Calling as a Minister of God Almighty, Mediator, Conciliator and Arbitrator.

Matthew 5:9-12 (KJV)  says:
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for their’s is the kingdom of heaven.                            Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you”.

Most of us leaders in our own rights need to return to School of Leadership, Public Relations as well as Communications to enable us learn more how to administer, govern well and  ditch out orders that are novel.

We take things for granted too much. The moment we assume position of authority, we think that we are God and all Powers of execution comes to us without first discussing it with the EXCO and the larger house that puts us there.

All we hear is Leaders are in control. Oba lo nile, Olori nikan lo lase”.

We begin to hear “Are abase waa” that is “The President or Chairman is the only Authority that can give orders”.

Often times, people forget that they are not in a Military Regime but in a Democracy.

Even in a Military Regime, the Commander cannot just wake up overnight without consulting with other Service Chiefs and other most Senior Officers to dish out draconian laws. If he did, he will be digging his grave unaware.

In the traditional setting, we  have the Council of Chiefs where the Traditional Ruler is the head.

He too, must consult with his Council members from time to time without claiming the name of Almighty God of  “I am that I am”.

A Leader is like a Tree that has branches like Tap Root, Leaves, Trunk, Midrib, Apex, and branches etc. All of them are very important. A tree cannot do without any of them lest it will die a natural death.

Therefore, if there must be love, unity of purpose and cooperation among the Citizens of Ondo State, especially the Political Class and the Electorate, some people should not think that “Others are fools” when it comes to Politics whether we are into partisan Politics or not.

Ondo State is and educated and elitist State, very wise, skillful and knowledgeable in all things.

With our level of education, we won’t allow people to walk on the ground with the sour on them.(Ao gbudo fo’ju egbo tele or Pe Aja l’obo) because we were born here in Ondo State by knocking our heads on the grounds on the very first days of our births.

Ondo State must teach other States how to do things right Politically, Educationally, Culturally and Socially as “OMOLUWABI, Omo Akin, Omo Ako” who also knows that the Omnipotent and Impartial God still exists.

We cannot as well call a dog a monkey.
Just as history will describe mankind, so history will describe the activities of individuals.

Dr.Olusegun Agagu ruled from the Southern Senatorial District. Former Governor Dr.Olusegun Mimiko took over for eight years from the Central Senatorial District. Our departed Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN was from the Northern Senatorial District of the State.

Presently, the incumbent Governor Dr.Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is from the Southern Senatorial District. The next Governor after him without mincing word must come from the Central Senatorial District after which it must return to the Northern Senatorial District. So Simple.

This is “Je ki nje…nii maye gun” in Yoruba parlance.

People who eat alone automatically die alone (Adanikan je nii fa Adanikan ku).

These are words of wisdom from our Elders and “Oro Agba, bi ko se l’owuro, a a se lojo ale”. Words of Elders are Words of Wisdom.

A Child of “Omo Oba cannot be given to Omo Osun”.

This was made explicit in the first judgement of King Solomon in:

1 Kings 3:22-28 (KJV)  “And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.
Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.
And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.
Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.
And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.”

Therefore,
Amos 5:24
But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

Let there be equity, fairness and justice in the scheme of things in Ondo State for all we do to be prosper on earth and in heaven.

We don’t want a repeat of the 1966 “WETI E” and the 1983 Chiefs Ajasin and Omoboriowo Political bonfire because of INJUSTICE in Ondo State again.

There is no separate Political, Senatorial, Ethnic, or Religious Peace, Abraham as Father or My Favourite Peace. Peace is Peace. We must follow PEACE in the way we carry out governance, security, Religion and social activities. Peace has no boundary. Cheating brings chaos than Peace.(Ireje nii tu Egbe).

“A stitch in time saves nine”.
Half-A-Word/”Aabo Oro…”

ONDO STATE shall continue to Progress as well as Nigeria, Amen.

I thank you all for your understanding.
