The Chairman of Olorunda Local Government, Alhaji Kunle Kudaisi, has expressed sympathy with residents affected by the devastating rainstorm that struck parts of Osogbo over the weekend.

The storm, which was accompanied by strong winds, claimed one life and left several others injured after a tree and an electric pole collapsed on a shop in the Sabo area. It also destroyed properties valued at millions of naira, leaving many residents displaced.

During an assessment tour of the affected communities, Kudaisi assured victims that the council would take immediate steps to ease their suffering. He noted that no effort would be spared in providing relief and restoring normalcy to the impacted areas.

The chairman disclosed that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had been notified of the incident, adding that a comprehensive report on the extent of the damage was being compiled to facilitate urgent intervention and support.

“We are already putting together palliative measures to bring relief to those affected. On behalf of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, we stand in solidarity with the victims during this difficult time,” he said.

Areas visited by the council chairman included Sabo, Ota Efun, Okefia, Igbona, and Owope, where many buildings had their rooftops blown off, while fallen electricity cables disrupted power supply across the communities.

Kudaisi and his team also visited injured victims receiving treatment at the hospital, assuring them of government support. The victims and their families, in turn, expressed appreciation for the chairman’s visit and the council’s swift response.
