Osun State Primary Health Care Board, in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, has announced plans to distribute essential drugs and medical equipment to 332 Primary Health Centres across the state.

The initiative, according to the board, is aimed at improving access to quality healthcare services for residents and strengthening primary healthcare delivery across Osun State.

In a statement issued by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Shina Igbalaye, the drugs and equipment were procured by the administration of Ademola Adeleke as part of efforts to enhance healthcare services and promote the wellbeing of citizens.

Dr. Igbalaye explained that the distribution forms part of a broader strategy by the state government to ensure that primary healthcare centres are adequately equipped to meet the medical needs of communities.

According to him, the medications to be distributed include antimalarials, antihypertensives, antidiabetics, haematinics, antibiotics, antacids and analgesics, which are essential for the prevention and treatment of common illnesses.

He stressed that the availability of these medications at the grassroots level would significantly reduce the burden of common diseases and improve the overall health status of residents.

“This distribution is a significant step towards improving health services in Osun State,” Igbalaye said.

“We encourage all residents to visit their nearest government health centres whenever they experience any health symptoms. Your health remains our priority.”

The Executive Secretary added that the distribution exercise would commence soon, assuring that all designated primary health centres across the state would be adequately supplied.

The initiative, he noted, reflects the Adeleke administration’s continued commitment to strengthening primary healthcare and ensuring better health outcomes for residents of Osun State.
