The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olutunji Disu, on Monday decorated eight senior police officers recently promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) at a ceremony held at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

In his address, the IGP described the event as more than a symbolic ceremony, noting that promotion to the rank of DIG represents recognition of decades of dedicated service, professional excellence and leadership capacity within the Nigeria Police Force.

Disu charged the newly promoted officers to provide strategic direction in their respective responsibilities, strengthen internal discipline, and drive reforms that would enhance the effectiveness of policing across the country.

He also urged them to ensure that policing strategies remain responsive to the country’s evolving security challenges.

According to him, the senior officers must leverage their wealth of experience in intelligence-led policing, operational coordination, inter-agency collaboration and accountability, while inspiring confidence within the Force and building greater trust among members of the public.
