Marine and Blue Economy minister, Adegboyega Oyetola, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will reclaim power in Osun State in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
He said the party’s past achievements and visible developmental projects across the state would speak for themselves and convince voters to return the APC to office.
The former governor made the remarks on Sunday during the annual Ileri-Oluwa Ramadan Lecture held at his residence in Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State.
He said the APC’s confidence ahead of the election is rooted in what he described as the verifiable track records and lasting imprints of progressive administrations in the state.
He commended party members for their continuous grassroots mobilisation, noting that their engagement with youths, artisans, professionals, and rural communities would help secure victory at the polls.
Taking a swipe at political opponents, Oyetola said those he described as political traducers would soon receive a “red card” from the electorate.
He also praised the unity and harmony within the APC since the 2022 governorship election, stressing that propaganda and political rhetoric from opponents would not derail the party’s determination to return to government.
Oyetola further urged Muslims to use the Ramadan period to promote peace, love, and unity, advising them to avoid actions that could invalidate their fasting.
In his lecture, the guest speaker, Sheikh Muhammad Jamiu Sanusi, emphasised the importance of strict adherence to the commandments of Allah and encouraged Muslims to always look out for one another.
Speaking on the theme, “Humanity in Leadership: Islamic Principles of Governance and Loyalty,” the cleric highlighted the need for justice, fairness, and equity in leadership. He also urged wealthy individuals to use their resources to support humanity and promote their faith.
The event attracted several political figures and religious leaders from within and outside the state
