Osun Teachers’ Recruitment: Adeleke Fixing APC’s Mess — Onifade Fires Back

Osun State

An activist, Comrade James Onifade, has defended the Ademola Adeleke administtration over the ongoing teachers’ recruitment exercise in Osun State, describing criticisms by the All Progressives Congress (APC) as misleading and politically motivated.

In a statement released on Sunday, Onifade accused the opposition party of spreading propaganda by describing the recruitment exercise as a “daylight robbery,” insisting that the process was transparent and aimed at correcting the damage allegedly done to the education sector during the tenure of the previous administration led by Adegboyega Oyetola.

According to him, the present administration inherited serious structural challenges in the education sector, including shortages of teachers, inadequate infrastructure and financial obligations left unresolved.

He said the current government had been working to bridge the gap and restore stability to the state’s education system.

“Osun’s education sector today is making significant progress despite the limited resources available to the state,” he said.

Onifade argued that the teachers’ recruitment exercise was part of a structured and phased plan designed to address the teacher deficit in public schools across the state.

He maintained that applicants underwent examinations and evaluation processes, stressing that recruitment was based on merit and the urgent need to fill vacancies in schools.

The activist further alleged that the opposition’s criticism was driven by political anxiety ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

He said the accusations were intended to distract the public from what he described as the APC’s past failures in managing the education sector.
