At last, relief has come the way of the Olusegun Agagu University of Technology, OAUSTECH, Okitipupa, as Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has promised to complete the chains of abandoned projects littering the institution’s landscape.

The institution’s management has made many passionate appeals to successive administrations in the state since Governor Olusegun Agagu, the founder, died in an air crash in 2013, for the completion of the abandoned projects numbering about 20.

For the first time ever, Aiyedatiwa answered the state-owned university’s prayers at its 9th convocation ceremony on Wednesday.

Indeed, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing all the abandoned infrastructure projects at the university, as part of efforts to strengthen the institution’s learning environment.

He promised that his government would ensure the completion of key projects within the university, including the iconic School of Science building, School of ICT building, and student hostels initiated by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).

Aiyedatiwa, represented by his Chief of Staff, Segun Omojuwa, stressed his administration’s commitment to improving the quality of education and strengthening infrastructure in the state.

Also, he pledged support for the university’s efforts to bridge the gap between the institution and its host communities in order to harness opportunities in the blue economy for the development of Ondo State.

His words, “I am proud to announce that we will complete the outstanding abandoned projects by OSOPADEC and NDDC, including the School of Science Building, ICT building and road projects started by previous administrations,”

He said the projects would significantly enhance the university’s academic environment and contribute to its overall growth.

Aiyedatiwa noted that his administration’s **EASE agenda—Education, Agriculture, Security, Entrepreneurship and Infrastructure Development—**remains central to building a more prosperous Ondo State.

He commended the Vice-Chancellor, Temi Ologunorisa, for repositioning the university and expanding its academic capacity.

Also, he praised the VC for increasing the number of faculties from three to seven and growing the student population from about 5,000 to over 12,000 within five years.

He further applauded the introduction of new programmes such as BSc Cyber Security, BSc Marine Science and BSc Meteorology, as well as postgraduate degrees in Engineering and Engineering Technology.

Congratulating the graduating students, Aiyedatiwa urged them to make meaningful contributions to society using the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies.

“I charge you to be ambassadors of our university, to uphold its values and strive for excellence in all that you do,” he said.

Earlier in his remarks, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ologunorisa acknowledged the infrastructural challenges facing the institution, noting that several projects had remained uncompleted for years.

He encouraged the graduating students to remain curious, embrace new challenges and apply the values of excellence, integrity and service instilled in them during their time at the university.
