Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared that efforts by political opponents to destabilise his administration have failed, reaffirming his government’s resolve to complete all major ongoing projects across the state.

Speaking during a State Executive Council meeting, the governor said his administration has recorded “appreciable achievements” under its five-point agenda, insisting that his team has remained focused despite what he described as attempts to derail governance.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said his administration draws strength from public support and faith, noting that the government remains committed to delivering development across towns and communities.

“They plotted but God plotted for us. We survived the siege laid on our government and the people of Osun. Our mandate remains to rebuild our towns and address the needs of our people,” the governor said.

Adeleke emphasised that his government is prioritising infrastructure renewal and social services, adding that remaining challenges would be tackled through sustained reforms and public cooperation.

Policy Reviews and Reforms
The Council reviewed progress on key policy areas, including the implementation of the Osun State Electricity Market Law.

Members directed the Commissioner for Energy to submit a proposal for establishing the state electricity regulatory commission, a move aimed at strengthening power sector governance.

It also commended payroll reforms, highlighting the deployment of the World Bank-supported State Integrated Financial Management Information System (SIFMIS) as a step toward transparency and efficiency, while reaffirming its rejection of the Sally Tibbot staff audit report.

Education, Revenue and Traditional Institutions
In the education sector, March 1, 2026 was approved as the resumption date for the first batch of newly recruited teachers, with the Ministry of Education directed to ensure compliance.

The Council also reviewed revenue performance, mandating the Ministry of Finance and related agencies to accelerate tax reforms and broaden the state’s revenue base.

On traditional governance matters, a five-member committee chaired by the Secretary to the State Government was constituted to examine alleged encroachments on the authority of eight paramount rulers and recommend corrective measures.

Political Undertone
The governor’s remarks carried a strong political tone, framing his administration’s journey as one marked by resilience.

He maintained that his government remains accountable to the electorate and committed to inclusive development.
