Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has congratulated Comrade Adeyemi Aboderin on his emergence as the Chairman of the Osun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
In a congratulatory message by his spokesman, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke also extended his goodwill to other members of the newly elected executive, noting that their emergence reflects the council’s enduring tradition of prioritising competence, professionalism, and service.
He said the pedigree, experience, and credibility of the new leadership inspire confidence that the union will continue to strengthen public trust in journalism and contribute meaningfully to democratic growth in the state.
Adeleke assured the NUJ of his administration’s readiness to sustain a constructive partnership with the media, emphasising the critical role journalists play in promoting accountability, transparency, and good governance.
“I am delighted to congratulate Comrade Adeyemi Aboderin on his election as Chairman of the NUJ in Osun State. His wealth of experience and the composition of his executive give strong assurance that the council will continue to uphold its pivotal role in deepening democracy,” the governor stated.
Looking ahead to the forthcoming off-season governorship election, Adeleke urged the new leadership to reinforce ethical standards and professionalism among members, stressing the need for fair, accurate, and balanced reportage in the interest of the public.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting press freedom and journalists’ rights in line with existing laws, pledging continued collaboration with the NUJ and other stakeholders to advance development across Osun State
