*It is important for us all to understand why men of betrayal betray the betrayed.*
*Today’s edition of the Reflection series is coming up as a result of yesterday’s post on the need for us to be careful who we trust.*
*A reader responded by asking “why do men betray”?*
*The first thing, and quite sadly, which you must understand about TRUST and BETRAYAL is that betrayal never comes from your enemies. Betrayal comes from your FRIENDS. Your very good friends most times.*
*This is why it is called betrayal, and this is the reason why betrayal is bitter.*
*The second thing you need to know is that every act of betrayal comes from the heart of men. And the heart of men according to the words of God is…*
*Jeremiah 17: [9] “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”*
*After the Adamic fall in Gen 3:1-7, the activities of the heart of men shifted from God and godliness to wickedness…*
*Genesis 6: [5] “And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually”.*
*Know it that the heart of men is full of evil.*
*The third salient issue on this matter is that the devil can raise sentiments within a supposed friend to think and act devilish…*
*Luke 22: [3] “Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.*”
*[4] “And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them”.*
*The fourth point similar to the third one above is that enemies around us can manipulate our friends to act against us. An example is the use of Delilah against Samson.*
*Judges 16: [5] “And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver”.*
*That is why we must always ensure that we are careful about whose company we keep :*
*1 Corinthians 15: [33] “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners”.*
*Man can also betray because of any of the following : Jealousy, envy, pride, rivalry, vengeance, and many more.*
*This is the reason why the state of our minds should be pure and just to guide against any satanic influence – Phil 4:8.*
*Everyone needs to know that betrayal runs deep and strong because it comes from friends. Just consider the following :*
*Mark 14: [18] “And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me”.*
*The gospel according to St Luke puts it this way – Lk. 22: [21] “But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table”.*
*When we mentioned yesterday that we should be careful who we trust and call ‘FRIEND”, it is because IT IS FRIENDS THAT BETRAY.*
Top of the day to you
