*There is an error common to most people in this part of the world. We underestimate the job value of the next fellow.*
*And this attitude cuts across our entire job spectrum.*
*The average superior officer thinks this way concern his subordinates. Even the subordinates too are not left out – they think “what little job their bosses are doing”!*
*The syndrome of thinking that there is nothing much in the job content and activity of the next fellow is a reflection of poor appreciation of ourselves.*
*This is why you will hear a “big Oga” somewhere saying “that fellow is an ordinary Gateman.” The day “big Oga” will know the value of a Gateman, it may be at a high price, or perhaps, too late.*
*Not everyone in an organization will become or end up becoming the CEO, but there is enough value in the job content of the other staff, including the least staff, that should be appreciated in the drive towards the success of the organization.*
*See how the Word of God beautifully illustrates this all important subject :*
*1 Corinthians 12:[ 14] For the body is not one member, but many.*
*[15]If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?*
*[16]And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?*
*[17]If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?*
*[18]But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.*
*[19]And if they were all one member, where were the body?*
*[20]But now are they many members, yet but one body.*
*[21]And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.*
*[22]Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:*
*Industrial experts will tell you that there is no easy job in the market, none. The question therefore is “where do we now get this absurd arrogance from, whereby we assume that our job is very important, while the job of the next fellow is not very valuable?”*
*If we must grow our corporate industrial capacity, as well as our individual industrial understanding, it must start with a better understanding and appreciation of what the next fellow is doing, big or small.*
*It was this type of positive industrial mindedness that played out in the King Pharaoh who listened to Joseph – a common slave and prisoner, interpreted his dream, such that he could trust Joseph’s judgement on implementation of the same dream.*
*The question before each of us is: “what type of attitude do you have towards the job value of the next fellow?”*
Top of the day to you
