Adeleke Declares 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I NYSC Orientation Course Open in Osun

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reiterated his administration’s commitment to youth development, national unity, and the welfare of Corps Members as he formally declared open the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.

He gave the assurance at the official opening and swearing-in ceremony held on Friday, January 23, 2026, where he welcomed Corps Members deployed to the state, including those dislodged from Lagos State, and commended their willingness to serve the nation.

Adeleke described the NYSC scheme as one of Nigeria’s most enduring institutions, noting that it remains a critical platform for fostering unity, integration, leadership, and a shared national identity among young Nigerians from diverse backgrounds.

His words, “The service year is not only a period of national obligation but also a defining opportunity for personal growth, leadership development, and meaningful contribution to society. Nigeria looks up to you as future leaders and agents of positive change”.

He highlighted the significant contributions of Corps Members to Osun State over the years, particularly in the areas of education, health, agriculture, and community development, noting that many impactful interventions across communities bear the imprint of Corps Members who served with diligence and integrity.

Also, he urged the new Corps members to be law-abiding, respectful of local customs, and sensitive to their host communities, assuring them that Osun State remains peaceful, hospitable, and conducive for meaningful service.

The Governor further assured the Corps Members of the unwavering commitment of the Osun State Government to their welfare, safety, and security, stressing that his administration would continue to work closely with the NYSC, security agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a safe and enabling environment throughout the service year.

Encouraging the Corps members to make the most of the service year, Governor Adeleke advised them to build lasting connections, acquire valuable skills, and leave positive footprints in every community they serve.

The Governor was represented at the ceremony by the commissioner for Youth Affairs and Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board in the state, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, who formally declared the orientation course open on his behalf.

Other political functionaries present at the event included the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Affairs, Hon. Olaniyan Samsudeen Oyeniyi, and the Youth and Strategic Engagement Aide to the Governor, Hon. Babawale Jamiu Popoola, alongside other government officials.

Dignitaries at the ceremony also included the state’s Chief Judge, Ọba Munirudeen Laminisa I, the Timi of Ede, who was represented by the Baba Kekere of Ede.

Adeleke wished the Corps members a successful orientation course and a productive service year in Osun State and across Nigeria.
