Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, pledging full implementation of the budget while highlighting major achievements recorded under the last three fiscal years of his administration.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; Chief of Staff, Hon. Kazeem Akinleye; Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina; and members of the State Executive Council.

Speaking shortly after assenting to the bill, Adeleke described the 2026 budget as a strategic instrument to consolidate and expand governance outcomes in line with the administration’s Five-Point Agenda.

“This budget launches us into the final year of our first term, with expanded ambitions to complete ongoing projects and introduce new initiatives for the benefit of our people,” the governor stated,

He added that the administration’s performance has earned widespread public admiration.

Reflecting on the past three budget cycles, the governor said his administration had laid a solid foundation for sustainable development by completing abandoned projects, initiating new ones, and addressing long-standing financial obligations.

“Our government has paid billions of naira in pension and salary arrears, prioritised workers’ welfare, implemented promotion arrears, and cleared several neglected allowances inherited from previous administrations,” he noted.

The governor listed key sectoral interventions, including increased investment in agricultural mechanisation, healthcare delivery, school rehabilitation, construction of a five-star stadium in Osogbo, over 250 kilometres of roads across the state, six major road dualisation projects in five towns, and three flyover bridges to ease traffic congestion.

He also highlighted innovations in energy, science, and climate change.

Adeleke emphasised his administration’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, stating that project costs were moderated, procurement processes reformed to align with global best practices, and a local content policy implemented to curb capital flight.

“Osun money must work for Osun people. We approved nearly ₦4 billion for the cooperative movement to deepen grassroots economic participation and promote inclusive financing,” he said.

On economic development, the governor disclosed that tax harmonisation, a 45-day window for Certificate of Occupancy acquisition, and the revival of moribund free trade zones have significantly improved the ease of doing business.

According to him, investment inflow has grown from near zero in 2022 to nearly a 40 percent increase within three years.
Highlighting performance indicators, Governor Adeleke revealed that Osun State ranked first in the South-West for Primary Healthcare access in both 2024 and 2025, improved its position in national examinations from 33rd in 2022 to 7th in 2024 and 2025, reduced its debt profile by over 40 percent, and cut infrastructure deficit from nearly 80 percent in 2022 to about 45 percent.

“Osun is today under responsible, transparent, and accountable leadership,” he declared.
The governor also acknowledged the numerous unsolicited local and international awards received by the state, thanking the public for recognising his administration’s achievements.

Speaking on the significance of Budget 2026, Governor Adeleke described the year as one of consolidation and continuity, even as it coincides with the renewal of electoral mandate.
“2026 is a dual year—of governance consolidation and mandate renewal. By the grace of God and the will of the people, our mandate will be renewed. Governance will not suffer.
We will multitask,” he assured.

He charged all ministries, departments, and agencies to adhere strictly to budget timelines, promising full implementation of the 2026 Appropriation Act while sustaining focus on people’s welfare and completion of ongoing projects.

He expressed profound gratitude to the people of Osun State for their unwavering support, prayers, and confidence in his leadership.

“I will not disappoint the artisans, workers, youths, students, women, traditional rulers, and opinion leaders. I remain committed to service of the people, for the people, and by the people,” he concluded.
