The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has described it Governor Ademola Adeleke as excessively jittery and restless following the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji as the party’s governorship candidate in a consensus primary held on Saturday, 13th December 2025, in Osogbo.
According to Kola Olabisi, Director of Media and Information for Osun APC, Adeleke, through his spokesman, publicly expressed unwarranted agitation toward APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, despite assurances that the party is committed to retaining Osun, following recent losses in Anambra State.
“For a governor who has yet to establish a credible platform for reelection, it is surprising that he continues to focus on trivial matters, exposing his inability to provide effective governance to the people of Osun State,” Olabisi said.
He added that the citizens, having observed Adeleke’s public gaffes, underwhelming performance, and poor management over the past three years, are now discerning enough to recognize that his record falls short of what the state needs. Social media campaigns portraying widespread support for his reelection, Olabisi said, are nothing more than a charade that cannot legitimize his ambitions.
Meanwhile, the APC stressed that their candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, is well-educated, tested, reliable, and resourceful—a serious contender ready to win the 8th August 2026 governorship election.
The party also highlighted the consequences of Adeleke’s policies: public schools remain largely unstaffed following the dismissal of 1,500 teachers employed by former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, while hospitals operate as mere consulting centers due to the sacking of thousands of health workers.
“The citizens of Osun can no longer remain passive as essential services collapse,” the statement read, warning Adeleke’s supporters not to mistake notoriety for popularity. True leadership, it added, is measured by delivery and results—both of which have been lacking in Adeleke’s administration.
The APC further advised Governor Adeleke to begin preparing his handover notes, noting that political circumstances that favored him in 2022 no longer exist, and that several former PDP leaders who supported his election have now joined the APC.
Finally, the party challenged Governor Adeleke to a televised debate with Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, asserting that Oyebamiji’s competence, vision, and performance would clearly demonstrate that the governor’s bid for reelection lacks merit.
