Adeleke slashes Igbajo’s 24-hour curfew to 10 hours

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has relaxwd the 24-hour curfew earlier imposed on Igbajo, Boluwaduro Local Government Area, following encouraging security reports indicating a steady return to peace and order in the community.

With immediate effect, the curfew will now run daily from 8:00pm to 6:00am, pending the restoration of complete peace.

This directive was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi.

However,  the Governor maintained that security agencies must remain on 24-hour guard.

“I hereby direct that contingents of the Army, Police, DSS, and NSCDC continue round-the-clock surveillance until total and verifiable peace is achieved.”

Governor Adeleke, while condemning the violent acts that necessitated the initial total lockdown, urged residents and stakeholders in Igbajo to embrace peace, unity, and lawful conduct following the unrest triggered by the announcement of the demise of Iba Gboyega Famodun.

In the statement, the Governor said: “I am happy and elated to a large extent over the new security report indicating that law and order is gradually returning to Igbajo.

“Premised on this, as the Chief Security Officer of the State, I formally direct that the 24-hour curfew earlier imposed on the town be relaxed to 10 hours.

“By implication, the total lockdown will now be from 8pm to 6am the following day.”

Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to restoring normalcy not only in Igbajo but across Osun State:

“I reiterate my strong belief in the full restoration of peace and orderliness throughout the state. I appreciate the natives and non-natives of Igbajo for their renewed commitment to peace.”
