An aspirant in the forthcoming Governorship Election in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has boasted that he will win the scheduled All Progressives Congress (APC) primary, saying that the reception he has received across the state shows that the people are ready for his candidacy.
He spoke during a tour of local government areas, describing the public response as “organic, enthusiastic, and highly encouraging,” saying the warm welcome from residents, indigenes, and APC stakeholders reflects a growing desire for a new direction in Osun.
His words, “The reception all over the state has been extremely encouraging. People are ready for the government that is coming. We can all see the enthusiasm—this is an organic crowd, an engaging crowd in politics. They are excited and happy to see me among them today.”
Omisore, the state’s former Deputy Governor 26 years ago, and ex-National Secretary of the APC, said his decision to contest the 2026 governorship election is a call to service, driven by his experience and a determination to rescue the state from what he described as years of bad governance.
“My coming into this race is a call to service. With my experience over the years—having been Deputy Governor, a Senator, and National Secretary of our great party—the requirements to lead this state are not new to me,” he stated.
He added that his ambition was encouraged by political stakeholders and like-minded individuals who believe in his capability to reposition Osun.
“Stakeholders and people of like minds invited me to run, and I saw reasons with them. I have come to serve, to redeem this state, to rescue it from the shackles of bad governance, and to bring real opportunities and improvement to the people of Osun State.”
Projecting a decisive win in the APC primary, Omisore said:
“From what I have seen on ground, we are expecting over 80% of the votes in the state. By God’s grace, the party will defeat whoever comes as an opponent—whether one or two parties—we will defeat them embarrassingly with a landslide victory.”
He prayed for guidance: “May God help me and the people of this state.”
