Osun State House of Assembly on Tuesday resumed legislative activities after its recess, with four major bills passing through the third reading stage and now awaiting the Governor’s assent.
The bills include:
- -Osun State Sports Commission Establishment Bill 2025;
- Osun State Start-up Bill 2025;
- Osun State Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshots Bill 2025; and
- Osun State Communal Crisis Management and Peace Building Bill 2025.
The reports on the bills were presented by the Chairman, House Committee on Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, and the Chairman, House Committee on Youths, Sports and Special Needs, Hon. Abiola Awoyeye.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, announced that copies of the bills will be transmitted to the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for his assent.
In a related development, the Osun State Water Users (Association) and Irrigation Bill 2025 scaled first reading on the floor of the House.
The House later dissolved into the Committee of the Whole to deliberate on the Osun State Emergency Management Agency (Amendment No. 1) Bill 2025, making room for further considerations and amendments.
At the committee session chaired by the Speaker, lawmakers including Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, Hon. Olumide Fatunmise, Hon. Babajide Kofoworola, Hon. Akinyode Oyewusi, Hon. Simeon Popoola, Hon. Afeez Ibrahim, and Hon. Adekunle Oladimeji made significant contributions.
Rt. Hon. Egbedun later presented the progress report from the Committee of the Whole, noting the robust deliberations and contributions from members.
Earlier, the Speaker had welcomed members back from recess, commending their promptness and responsiveness to state issues during the break. He praised their unwavering commitment to their constituencies and the development of Osun State.
The House thereafter adjourned plenary.
