The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has advised Nigerians to take advantage of its online portal to carry out key voter registration services without visiting its offices, in an effort to reduce overcrowding at registration centres across the country.
According to a special public notice signed by Dr. Mutiu Agboke, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of INEC in Osun State, several services — including card replacement and transfer — can be completed entirely online through the official Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) platform: www.cvr.inecnigeria.org.
Agboke clarified that only individuals registering for the first time — those who have never been registered before — are required to appear physically at INEC local government offices for biometric data capture, which includes fingerprints and facial photographs.
He emphasized that the following services can be processed digitally: Replacement of lost Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) replacement of defaced or damaged PVCs, request for transfer of voting location and issuance of new PV
“Only fresh registrants, who have never registered in their lifetime, are required to visit our offices for biometrics,” the statement read.
He called on the public, especially in Osun State, to spread this information across social platforms to ease pressure on INEC centres and ensure a smooth, efficient voter registration process.
The continuous voter registration is part of INEC’s efforts to ensure eligible Nigerians are properly documented and able to vote in upcoming elections.
