Four of the NYCN State Chairmen in South West Zone

The National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, South West Zone, has dissociated itself from the activities of one Mr. Solomon Adodo, who is allegedly impersonating the council’s National President and other executive members.

In a petition to President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, which was signed by four of its state chairmen in the zone, the council said that Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo “is the only elected, recognized and legitimate National President of NYCN.”

The statement was signed by Amb. Abdulsalam Abdulquadri Olusegun FEIP,  Chairman, Oyo State Chapter & National Chairman;  Pathfinder Matthew Adewale Ogunmolawa,  Chairman, Ondo State Chapter & Chairman of Chairmen (South West Zone;  Oloye Akolawole Shoremi
Chairman, Ogun; and Comr. Akinbode Oluwasegun Olakolupo, Osun State Chapter Chairman. Ekiti and Lagos States’ Chairmen were absent

It commended the President on behalf of the entire youth of Southwest Nigeria, “for his astute leadership prowess in making key decisions tailored towards the development of the youth constituency.”

According to the statement, “We, the State Chairmen of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), South West Zone, hereby avail this medium to inform all stakeholders and the general public of our dissociation from the acclaimed leadership of one Mr. Solomon Adodo whose stock in trade is impersonating the revered office of the National President and other Executive Members of the NYCN.

“We unequivocally reiterate that Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo is the only elected, recognized and legitimate National President of NYCN.

“Owing to recent development of impersonation as observed in the media, we hereby pass a vote of confidence on all members of the incumbent National Executive Council, and forthwith call on well-meaning Nigerians and Stakeholders to reject all forms of rascality or abuse of authority by any assembly of youth.

“We urge the general public not to transact any business or engage in any dealings with the said Solomon Adodo or any individual purporting to represent NYCN under his leadership as such dealings will be at their own detriment, morally or financially.

“Towards the sustenance of public peace, and in avoidance of breach of orderliness, we charge the security agencies to investigate the unholy gathering and activities of Solomon Adodo and his cohorts against continuous impersonation or fraudulent activities in the name of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.”

It said, “We humbly beckon on Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, the National President of the NYCN, to remain resilient and focus in his vision towards the advancement of policies and developmental activities in the betterment of the Nigerian youths.

“While we affirm our solidarity with Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo and members of his Executive Council, we appeal that all necessary actions be put in place for the actualization of the forthcoming Congress to ensure fairness, peace and tranquility to every Nigerian Youth.”

The council appreciated the Minister for Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, “for his exemplary leadership role and unparalleled achievements for the youth constituency.”

It said, “His dedication and commitment to the welfare of Nigerian youths are worthy of immense appreciation.”

Also, the council commended the Governors of Southwest Geo-Political Zone “for their giant stride in maintaining a strong collaborative effort with the security networks of Nigeria in protecting lives and property of residents and dwellers of the South-West region.”

It appealed for an improved working relationship with the council and other stakeholders for the progress of the region.

Also, it appealed for periodical engagements and oversight activities of the NYCN, through the Ministry of Youth Development.

According to the statement, this will ensure that the President Timubu administration continues to bridge the gap between the Government and the apex youth body.

It said “This would foster a better understanding of our concerns and ideas, ultimately contributing to the development of policies that benefit our generation.”

The zone appealed to Sukubo to contest the council’s coming presidential election.

It said,  “We humbly beckon on Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo to re-contest as the NYCN National President in the forthcoming NYCN September 2025 National Elective Congress.

*We believe he has not finished his assignment to fix the problems created by merchants of the devil in NYCN, and we are confident that his continued leadership will bring the desired stability and progress to our revered Council.

“We affirm our solidarity with Amb Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo’s leadership and pledge to work with him to promote the interests of Nigerian youths.”
