A journalist in Osun State, Mrs. Oluwafunmilayo Sharon Ojo, has bagged a doctorate degree in Mass Communication from Adeleke University, Ede, a rare feat considering the hectic schedules of her profession.

To her colleagues in the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Osun State Chapter, who are thrilled with her achievement, she deserves a special commendation for her sacrifices, doggedness and determination, despite the pressures on her as a practicing journalist, and a mother, apart from playing other roles efficiently simultaneously.

Her achievement, described as both a personal triumph and a historic milestone, has been hailed as a source of immense pride and inspiration, not only to the Osun NAWOJ chapter but also to the entire B-Zone, where Dr. Ojo once served with distinction as the South-West Zonal Secretary.

In a statement congratulating her heartily, which was jointly signed by the State Chairperson, Comrade Abisola Ariwodola, and Secretary, Oluwaranti Ojewumi, the association praised her academic accomplishment as a powerful testament to her vision, strength, and unwavering dedication.

The association said, “Dr. Ojo, your academic journey stands as a shining example of resilience and purpose.

“Attaining a Ph.D.—the apex of academic excellence—demands years of painstaking research, discipline, and perseverance.

“You have embodied the spirit of a determined lifelong learner, setting a new benchmark for women in journalism”.

NAWOJ highlighted Dr. Ojo’s ability to balance her academic pursuits with numerous other roles.

“Your achievement is even more remarkable considering how seamlessly you have combined your professional duties as a journalist with Gold FM, Radio Nigeria, with your responsibilities as a wife, mother, mentor, community builder, development advocate, and now, a respected academic.

“You are a beacon of hope and a role model for women within and beyond the media space.”

The association emphasized that the convocation was not merely ceremonial, but deeply symbolic.

It said, “This moment represents not just an academic celebration, but a bold affirmation of intellectual brilliance, women’s empowerment, and commitment to personal growth. It is a proud moment for NAWOJ and for all women striving to break limits and lead in every sphere—including academia.”

“NAWOJ Osun is immensely proud of you,”

“You have not only earned the prestigious title of ‘Doctor,’ but you have elevated the collective pride of our association.

“Your success strengthens our resolve to support and celebrate women who lead with purpose and distinction.

“As you enter this new phase of academic and professional influence, we pray that doors of greater opportunities continue to open for you.

“May your voice in the field of Mass Communication grow stronger, your wisdom touch more lives, and your legacy continue to reflect brilliance, honour, and integrity.”

“Once again, hearty congratulations to our dear sister and icon — Dr. (Mrs.) Olufunmilayo Sharon Ojo. Your success is our celebration”.
