The Olubadan designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja has urged Ibadan residents to make peaceful co-existence their watch word.
He gave this advice during a meeting with the Council of Traditional Baales in Ibadanland, held at Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo Ibadan, on Wednesday.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, Gbenga Ayoade, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Thursday, said Ladoja, was represented at the meeting by the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Akeem Adewoyin.
He requested for prayers and unalloyed support of all and sundry to move the city of Ibadan in particular and the state in general forward.
“Ibadanland is known to enjoy peaceful co- existence irrespective of difference in language, religion and tribe. I, therefore urge you all to remain peaceful and be your brothers’ keepers,” he advised
Earlier, the President of the council, Oladapo Atilola said they were in the palace to celebrate the departure of an achiever, peace loving and philanthropist, departed Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, and to heartily welcome the incoming Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“We are here to showcase our loyalty to the Olubadan designate and to assure him of our unalloyed allegiance,” he stated.
Present at the meeting were the Maye of Olubadan, Senior Chief Lekan Alabi; the Gbonka Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Monsur Arulogun; Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Wasiu Aladorin; Mogaji Muktar Gbadeyanka; Mogaji Abass Oloko; Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade; Mogaji Olasomi Ademola; Mogaji Tonade Owoade and others.
Oba Olakulehin joined his ancestors on Monday, July 7, at age of 90 years.
