A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State, Chief
Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has described as reckless the alleged call for violence ahead of the 2027 election by a former Transportation minister, Rotimi Amaechi,
Besides he said the ex-minister’s alleged statement was “unpatriotic and dangerous”
The politician warned that such rhetoric could destabilize the country and threaten Nigeria’s democratic gains.
Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, the former lawmaker and member of the defunct Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) cautioned political leaders against inciting unrest through inflammatory remarks or reckless coalitions.
“What the country needs at this point is to consolidate on the gains of democracy, not to stir up unnecessary agitations that could lead to national unrest,” Oyintiloye said.
While acknowledging that the formation of political coalitions is a normal feature of democracy, he noted that using such platforms to provoke instability or incite the public against the government should be firmly rejected.
“Many of the individuals behind these coalitions are driven by a desperate hunger for power. They are willing to get it at all costs, even if it means jeopardizing the peace and unity of the nation,” he added.
Oyintiloye emphasized that Nigeria must not be sacrificed on the altar of personal ambition, warning that political recklessness could have far-reaching consequences for national stability.
“We have no other country but Nigeria. Destroying it with careless utterances and misguided political actions is not just unwise — it is dangerous,” he said.
He further urged political stakeholders to redirect their energies towards supporting the administration of President Bola Tinubu, stating that the current focus should be on governance, not chaos.
“What Nigeria needs now are patriotic leaders willing to work with the present administration to build a better future — one that fosters wealth creation, peace, and sustainable progress.”
Oyintiloye’s remarks came amid rising political realignments and coalition talks by opposition figures gearing up for the 2027 elections.
He stressed that true leadership lies in building the nation, not tearing it apart for political gain.
