Amid defection rumour, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Osun State has passed a vote of confidence in Governor Ademola Adeleke.
It pledged full support for any decision he makes as the speculation about his dumping of his party for the All Progressives Congress thickened.
PDP stakeholders from all arms of government and party structures at a meeting on Saturday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo, applauded the governor’s leadership and performance in office.
At the forum, the caucus gave Adeleke the go-ahead to intensify consultations with stakeholders both within and outside the state.
They affirmed that he has the backing of the party regardless of the outcome of those engagements.
In the communique issued at the end of the meeting, they said that the PDP in the state “will follow Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke wherever he goes”.
The meeting, which featured exhaustive deliberations and a detailed briefing by the Governor, had in attendance leaders from the National Assembly and State House of Assembly caucuses, the State Executive Council, party executives, elders’ forum, ALGON representatives, and the Governor’s political appointees.
While the Governor has not made a definitive public declaration, the caucus acknowledged that he remains in active consultation on the next political steps.
This signals that the ground is already being prepared for a major decision soon to be announced by the governor as regards his political future ahead of the coming 2026 governorship election in the state.
