Osun State

Whatever the decision of President Bola Tinubu on the All Progressives Congress candidate for Osun State’s incoming governorship election is final and binding, according to the party.

Senator Ajibola Basiru, APC national secretary, conveyed this party’s position during an interactive session with members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Osogbo the state capitol on Wednesday.

He said that the APC in Osun will align with President Tinubu’s choice, describing him as a leader guided by wisdom and the best interest of the progressive movement.

His words, “Whatever President Tinubu decides concerning Osun is final.

“We trust his leadership and can follow his directives without hesitation.

“His decisions are always aimed at advancing the broader goals of the progressive family and ensuring stability within the party.”

Nasiru spoke amid swirling speculation that President Tinubu may be favoring the incumbent Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the lead-up to the 2026 poll.

Reports have surfaced suggesting that some APC stakeholders are concerned over alleged signs of presidential support for Governor Adeleke, warning that such a move could compromise the party’s chances at the ballot box.

However, Basiru dismissed these concerns, urging party members to place their confidence in the President’s political judgment.

He reiterated that Tinubu’s political history has shown a consistent commitment to party unity, strategic governance, and electoral victory.

He said, “The President is not acting on impulse. Every decision he makes is calculated and informed by his deep understanding of the political landscape, particularly in Osun State”.

Basiru also expressed confidence in the APC’s overall standing nationally, stating that Nigerians and party loyalists continue to show strong faith in President Tinubu’s policies and leadership direction.
