Amotekun recovers stolen vehicle, others in Osun

Amotekun Corps has recovered a stolen Toyota Matrix car and six television sets stolen by armed robbery at a hotel in Ode-Omu, Osun State.

Armed robbers had stormed a hotel in the town at the weekend and attacked guests who came from Lagos for a funeral ceremony.

They had stolen a Toyota Matrix car valued at about N₦7 million and six LG television sets estimated at over N₦3 million.

The victims promptly reported the incident to the Amotekun Corps Command in Ayedaade Local Government, Gbongan.

In a rapid response, operatives from both the local and state commands launched a tactical tracking operation.

A gun duel ensued between the robbers and Amotekun operatives, with crucial support from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogere Command.

The confrontation forced the hoodlums to abandon the stolen items in a bush near Ogere in Ogun State. Some of the suspects are believed to have escaped with gunshot woumds.

Confirming the development, the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun, Chief Adekunle Omoyele, praised his men for their courage and tactical efficiency.

“This operation showcases Amotekun’s unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens in Osun State,” he stated, while also acknowledging the valuable support of the FRSC Ogere Command in facilitating the ecovery.

The stolen vehicle and electronics were transported back to Osogbo and returned to their rightful owners on Monday at the Amotekun Headquarters Operation Base by Operations Commander Olagunju Joseph.

Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Olanrewaju Omololu, the owner of the recovered car, lauded the Corps for their professionalism.

“They acted without delay or any demand for money. Their grassroots efficiency is truly commendable,” he said.

Similarly, Mr. Oyelami Nurudeen, owner of the stolen television sets, praised the operatives for their prompt response and encouraged the public to continue supporting the security outfit.

“Their response was timely and effective. We need to encourage and collaborate with them,” he noted.

Commander Omoyele used called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their communities.

“Security is a shared responsibility. Our doors are open to reports and intelligence from the public. Osun Amotekun will not relent in ensuring that criminals find no refuge in our state,” he affirmed.
