Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has named prominent political figures, including former governors Gboyega Oyetola and Bisi Akande, Senator Iyiola Omisore, former APC governorship candidate Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji and other political leaders to serve in the various committees of the state Presidential Campaign Council for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The appointments, which cut across the Accord Party, All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are part of efforts to strengthen the coalition’s political structure, deepen grassroots mobilisation and coordinate activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The development signals a major political realignment in Osun, with leaders from previously opposing political camps brought together under a common platform to secure electoral victory for Tinubu.

A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said Adeleke had approved the composition of the sub-committees to ensure effective coordination and inclusive participation by stakeholders from the different political blocs.

At the centre of the campaign structure is a Central Coordinating Committee chaired by Governor Adeleke.

Members include former governors Bisi Akande and Gboyega Oyetola; Senator Iyiola Omisore; Senator Ajibola Basiru; former APC governorship candidate Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji; Accord State Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande; APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal; and PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi.

The Election Planning and Monitoring Committee will also be chaired by Adeleke, while former Deputy Governor, Mr Gboyega Alabi, will head the Campaign Planning and Strategies Committee.

The governor will equally oversee the Finance, Fundraising and Logistics Committee, underscoring his central role in coordinating the campaign’s political and operational activities.

In the area of grassroots mobilisation, Alhaja Kudirat Fakokunde will chair the Women Mobilisation Committee, while Yeye Dupe Adeleke Sanni will lead the Elders and Advisory Group.

The Youth and Student Affairs Committee will be headed by the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, while Hon. Folarunso Oladoyin Bamisayemi will lead the Contact and Mobilisation Committee.

The Grassroots Mobilisation Committee will comprise local government party chairmen from the PDP, Accord and APC, while Hon. Bosun Oyintiloye will coordinate the Informal Groups and Artisans Mobilisation Committee.

Ismael Jayeoba will oversee support groups, while the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Bar. Kolapo Alimi, will chair the Media and Strategic Communication Committee.

The governor’s spokesperson, Rasheed, will head the Digital and Social Media Committee, while Rt. Hon. Akintunde Adegboye will lead the Civil Society Groups and Labour Union Committee.

Other appointments include Rt. Hon. Lasun Yussuff as chairman of the Parliamentarian Mobilisation Committee and Prof. Wale Oladipupo as head of the Inter-Party Affairs Committee.

Mrs Titi Adeleke will lead the Welfare Committee, Alhaji Kazeem Adio will coordinate Protocol and Venue, while Hon. Ismaila Kolawole will oversee Special Duties.

For security and intelligence, retired Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun has been appointed chairman of the committee, while Hon. Diran Ayanbeku will head the People with Disabilities Committee.

The campaign council also made provisions for religious engagement, with Sheikh Abdullah Olohunlomerue appointed to lead the Islamic Religious Affairs Committee and Ven. Clement Fayemi to head the Christian Religious Affairs Committee.

Prof. Siji Olamiju will chair the Medical Affairs Committee, while Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kunle Adegoke, will head Legal Matters.

Similarly, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa will coordinate Administration and Secretariat activities.

Speaking on the development, Adeleke charged members of the various committees to commence work immediately, stressing the need for aggressive mobilisation, effective coordination and a united political front ahead of the presidential election.

He commended leaders and members of the coalition parties for setting aside their political differences to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition, describing their cooperation as essential to achieving the desired electoral outcome.

The governor also disclosed that he had recently met with President Tinubu and briefed him on preparations for the 2027 presidential election.

According to Adeleke, the President had authorised assurances to be extended to coalition partners and the people of Osun State that outstanding issues would be addressed before the election.

He said Tinubu was aware of the coalition’s expectations and remained committed to resolving them, particularly the lingering local government dispute in Osun State.

Adeleke urged the committee chairmen and members to demonstrate commitment, begin mobilisation without delay and work towards delivering massive votes for the President in the state.

The development comes amid ongoing political realignments in Osun ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the emergence of a broad coalition involving political leaders who previously operated on opposing sides of the state’s political divide.
