A Yoruba National Youth Leader and National Chairman of Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders of Nigeria, Chief Eric Oluwole, has condemned the killings of innocent worshipers in Owo by suspected Fulani criminals as barbaric, provocative and uncalled for.
In a statement titled: “Owo killings of innocent Worshipers: Enough is enough,” which he issued in Akure, the Ondo State capital shortly after the mayhem on Sunday, he said: “Yoruba youths hereby condemn the unprovoked attack and senseless killings by suspected armed Fulani Invaders of innocent worshipers at a Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State today Sunday June 5, 2022.
“The attack and killings of numerous worshipers by these blood thirsty savages are barbaric, provocative and uncalled for.
“As Yoruba National Youth Leader / National chairman Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders of Nigeria, I call upon the security agencies especially the Amotekun Corps, Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, with our Local Hunters and Vigilantes and the Police to take immediate actions of investigating, and combing our bushes in Owo and entire Region to rid them of criminals who use them as hideouts from where they unleash terror on our innocent people.
“This is the right time for the youths in the South West Region to secure and protect our lives and future from the hands of these criminals
“The Police must arrest the criminals, probe the attacks and bring to justice the criminals.”
Oluwole called on Yoruba leaders including Governors of the six South West States, all royal fathers, community and political leaders to hold an emergency security meeting to take more decisive steps in protecting the people of the region from further attacks by criminals.
He said: “We hereby call on all Yoruba Leaders including all our Royal Fathers, Community and Political Leaders and the Governor’s of the six South West States to come together, hold an emergency security meeting and come out to speak with one voice and take more decisive actions in securing the South West Region and Yorubaland from terrorists and criminals.
“While commiserating with the Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye the bereaved families, the entire people of Owo and Ondo State Government, we call on Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, to take more decisive actions urgently in protecting the lives and property of all the law abiding residents in Ondo State.
“Also we ask all the other South West Governors and Leaders to take preemptive actions and adequate security measures to prevent further attacks in any other part of Yorubaland or South West Region.
“Please take urgent actions to protect any further attacks on our people. It is Owo today. Where near in Yorubaland?
“Enough is Enough.”
