Music superstar Davido has described the victory of his contemporaries at the 2021 edition of the Recording Academy Awards popularly called Grammys, as victory for Nigeria.
He congratulated Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage and others few hours after their victory at the 63rd edition of the awards ceremony hosted by Trevor Noah on Sunday, March 14, in the United States of America.
Davido took to the social media to celebrate his colleagues, tweeting: “Whichever way you look at it, this is a victory for Nigeria for the culture and for my people! Congrats to our winners! Tule Naija! #Grammys #foreverchoke.”
Wizkid was awarded for his effort in Brown Skin Girl by Beyonce, Blue Ivy and St Jhn which is from Beyonce’s Lion King: The Gift album.
The song won Best Music Video, beating Future and Drake (Life Is Good), Harry Styles, (Adore You), Anderson Paak (Lockdown), and Woodkid (Goliath).
Burna Boy who lost out to Angelique Kidjo in the last Grammy edition won the Best Global Music Album category with his Twice As Tall album, beating Antibalas (FU Chronicles), Bebel Gilberto (Agora), Anoushka Shankar (Love Letters), and Tinariwen (Amadjar).

On the same night, Ayo ‘Wizkid’ Balogun won his first-ever Grammy Award after two nominations.
The win came through his duet with Beyonce on the song, ‘Brown Skin Girl’ off the 2019 album, ‘The Lion King.’
Sikiru Adepoju is the first Nigerian to win a Grammy for his performance in an album jointly produced.
Burna Boy remains the first Nigeria-based, solo artiste to win the Grammys.
