Osun State Government has listed 20 key achievements it said justify the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke in the coming governorship election.
In a statement on Sunday, the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the administration’s performance across several sectors has earned validation from stakeholders locally and internationally.
Rasheed said the governor has demonstrated transparency, adherence to procurement regulations, equitable distribution of infrastructure, and commitment to the rule of law in governance.
According to him, criticism from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) stems from what he described as the party’s “political frustration” and declining popularity among Osun residents.
He also dismissed opposition concerns about the governor’s eligibility, stating that the issue had already been settled by the courts and validated by the electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Key Achievements Highlighted
The spokesperson said Governor Adeleke deserves another term based on several achievements, including the empowerment of cooperative societies with nearly ₦4 billion across the state.
He also cited the strengthening of Community Development Associations (CDAs) to support grassroots infrastructure and health projects, as well as the Imole Medical Outreach, which has benefited nearly 80,000 residents.
Other initiatives listed include the revival of the Osun cocoa revolution through seedling distribution and farmer support programmes, acquisition of new tractors to support farmers statewide, and the implementation of rural infrastructure through the O-RAMP initiative.
Rasheed also highlighted governance reforms such as the introduction of a 45-day processing window for Certificates of Occupancy, revival of Osun Free Trade Zones with active investors, and the digitisation of tax and revenue collection systems.
He further noted the reintroduction of the SIFMIS payroll system and the reduction of Osun’s debt stock by over 40 percent, according to the Debt Management Office.
Infrastructure Development
According to the spokesperson, the administration has constructed about 350 kilometres of roads, built three flyover bridges, and reconstructed several collapsed bridges in Iwo, Ile-Ife and Gbongan.
He added that township road dualisation projects are currently ongoing in Iwo, Ila-Orangun, Obokun/Oriade, Ile-Ife, Ifetedo, Ikirun and Osogbo.
Welfare, Education and Health
Rasheed said the administration has also made significant progress in workers’ welfare and human development.
He noted that the governor approved one of the best minimum wage structures for workers in Nigeria, cleared inherited half-salary arrears, and paid nearly ₦100 billion in pension liabilities owed by previous administrations.
He added that Osun’s national examination ranking improved from 33rd to 7th between 2024 and 2025, while the government has reconstructed over 200 health centres with solar and water facilities and rehabilitated about 150 schools across the state.
According to him, the administration also secured full medical accreditation for the Osun State University, supported the establishment of the University of Ilesa, and continues to upgrade educational infrastructure.
Other initiatives listed include the development of a five-star stadium project, creation of the Osun Sports Commission and Sports Development Fund, and the revival of six moribund waterworks across the state.
The government also developed the Ora Water Dam, constructed 332 boreholes across the state’s wards, and implemented ICT policies and technology innovation laws, including the domestication of the Nigeria Startup Act
Rasheed said the administration is implementing a five-point development agenda aimed at driving inclusive and sustainable growth across sectors.
He added that the governor’s policies have positioned Osun on a path of long-term development and that the people of the state will ultimately decide in the 2026 governorship election.
