Voting starts; PDP’s Agboola Ajayi yet to vote at Ese-Odo polling unit

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Agboola Ajayi, is yet to cast his vote as of 10 am in the ongoing governorship election in Ondo State.

Tribune reports that voting exercise is currently underway at his polling unit 004, Idumado Apoi 11, Kiribo, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of the state.

Also, The Nation reports that voting is underway at Ajayi’s polling unit.

Accreditation and voting started at 8:05am amid heavy security presence in the polling unit.

Officials of the Department of State Security Services, Nigeria Police Force, and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence were seen at the polling unit to ensure a violence-free election.]

Announcing the commencement of the exercise, the INEC Presiding Officer for the unit said the voting would end by 2:30 pm.

She read out the voting process in line with the electoral guidelines.

She also displayed the BVAS and empty ballot box while urging voters to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations.

The INEC officials arrived at the polling unit at 7:30 am.

Agboola, who is one of the leading candidates in the ongoing election, is contesting against the incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and 15 other candidates from different political parties.

Agboola, who also served as deputy governor to the late Akeredolu, left the APC for the opposition PDP, citing irreconcilable differences with Akeredolu. After losing the PDP primary to Jegede in 2020, he joined the ZLP to challenge Akeredolu in the 2020 gubernatorial election.
