The University of Reading, United Kingdom, will begin four new Life Science programmes which are available for the September 2020 entry.
According to Study in UK Nigeria, all the new BSc programmes taking off also offer students the option of a year in industry at a professional placement. The new prohrammes are:
- BSc Chemistry with Cosmetic Science
This exciting, dynamic programme explores the chemistry behind the design and development of cosmetics and has been developed in conjunction with the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Society of Cosmetic Scientists, and industrial partners. Students will learn the same processes as those used in industry, with input from industry professionals, making them extremely employable in a rapidly expanding cosmetics market.
2. BSc Medical Science
The BSc Medical Science degree covers topics such as biomedical laboratory research and frontline clinical care in order to improve patients’ lives. Tailored pathways allow students to specialise in topical, cutting edge areas of medical science.
3. BSc Pharmacology
Developed together with the pharmaceutical industry, the BSc Pharmacology is ideal for anyone interested in how drugs work. This course has been designed to align with the British Pharmacological Society’s core curricula and there is an emphasis on the skills required in the pharmaceutical industry including computer modelling, statistical analysis, and handling and analysing big data sets.
4. BSc Nutrition
In this applied programme, students will learn about the links between nutrition and health, both on an individual and societal level. Topics covered will include diet-related diseases, the impact that nutrients can have on the body, and how public health advice is underpinned by clinical evidence.

Ninety eight percent of Reading’s research submitted in the Research Excellence Framework 2014 was found to be ‘internationally recognised’, while 78 percent was ‘internationally excellent’. This placed the University 19th in the UK by research intensity and 27th by research power.
University accommodation at Reading is safe and secure, and rent prices are all-inclusive, meaning that utility bills and wifi are included. University-owned halls of residence provide more than 5,000 rooms and all accommodation is either on or within a 15-minute walk of the main Whiteknights campus or London Road campus.
