Two persons have been dragged to court by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly stealing a Techno T661 phone valued #8,500 and cash of #48,000, property of one Mrs Alleluia Leticia.
Prosecution alleged that the two accused persons aged 26, male and another one, 30, female, names withheld, conspired together to steal one Techno T661 handset valued #8,500 and Cash of #48,000, total sum of #56,500.00.
Particularly, the first accused person, was said to have on 12th day of March, 2020 at about 8:00pm at No 51 Igboyegun street, off Ara kale Road Akure in the Akure Magisterial district, did steal one Techno T661 handset and cash of #48,000 and sold the said phone to the second accused person.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Adesegun told the court that the first accused fraudulently converted one Techno T661 phone valued #8,500 and some cash of #48,000, total #56,000 to personal use with the intent to permanently deprive the owner of it, property of one Mrs Alelulia Leticia.
He added that the second accused person, was on March 14, 2020 at about 6: 00hrs at Car street, off Arakale road Akure, in the Akure Magisterial District, received one Techno T661 phone from the first accused person, property of one Mrs Alelulia Leticia.
He urged the court to remand the accused persons for him to present his witnesses before the court.
The two accused persons who were facing a four count-charge pleaded not guilty to the offenses charged against them.
Counsel to the accused persons, Daniel Oni Esq, prayed the court to grant his clients bail in a libral term.
The offences committed were said to have contravened sections 383, 383(2) paragraph (a) and punishable under sections 390(9), 427 and 519 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol 1 Laws of the Ondo State Nigeria,2006.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Olanipekun Mayomi, granted the accused persons bail with the sum of #56,000 and one surety in like sum, and adjourned to December 14, 2020 for trial.
