A prominent Islamic leader, business mogul and philanthropist, Khamis Olatunde Badmus, has expressed strong support for the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that they are positioning Nigeria for sustained growth and prosperity.
Badmus made this known on shortly after observing the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr prayers at the Osogbo Central Eid Prayer Ground, where he highlighted what he described as the “unprecedented positive impact” of the administration’s policies across critical sectors.
According to him, the reforms introduced by the Tinubu-led Federal Government have begun to yield tangible results in commerce, education, healthcare and infrastructure development.
“Sincerely, President Tinubu should be commended for turning around the nation’s economy since the inception of his administration.
The positive impacts of the ongoing reforms are evident in both the formal and informal sectors,” he said.
Badmus maintained that economic activities have improved significantly, noting that earnings among workers, particularly in the informal sector, have increased.
“As it stands today, I make bold to say that the nation’s economy is thriving and Nigeria is moving forward under the present administration. Many in both sectors can attest to this. For instance, a labourer can now earn nothing less than N10,000 daily,” he added.
Despite the commendation, the Islamic leader urged the Federal Government to further address wage structures, especially for civil servants, to enhance purchasing power and align with rising market prices.
“The purchasing power of workers still needs attention. While earnings in some sectors have improved, there is a need to review wages in the public sector to match economic realities,” he noted.
On Nigeria’s international engagements, Badmus also praised the outcome of President Tinubu’s recent visit to the United Kingdom, describing the reception as remarkable and beneficial to national development.
He specifically commended the strengthening of bilateral relations between Nigeria and the UK, particularly the financial support targeted at improving the country’s maritime infrastructure.
According to him, the approval of significant funding for the upgrade of Apapa and Tin Can Island seaports would boost economic activities and enhance Nigeria’s maritime capacity.
“This development is a welcome one. Investment in our ports will greatly improve our waterways, facilitate the movement of heavy cargo, and ultimately stimulate economic growth,” he said.
Badmus further congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the successful completion of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, urging them to uphold the values of compassion, unity and self-discipline imbibed during the holy month.
“This is a period for reflection and renewed commitment to righteous living. We must continue to support one another and promote peaceful coexistence in our communities,” he stated.
Dignitaries present at the Eid prayers included the Ataoja of Osogbo, Jimoh Olanipekun, alongside several political office holders, community leaders and government officials.
