● Says “undue access” must stop henceforth
The unusual participation of some unauthorised persons in conducting official government business will no longer be tolerated by President Bola Tinubu.
The President complained about the bizarre development and reined in ghe culprits, including his son, Seyi.
He warned Seyi and other individuals involved in the unwholesome indulgence to, forthwith, stop interrupting the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings in session.
The President said it was not acceptable that Seyi and other unaccredited individuals had undue access in and out of the FEC meeting convened to discuss crucial issues of national importance.
Cautioning specifically that such practice must end forthwith, the president said; “Last week, I noticed the undue access of people sneaking in and out of this Council, including… I saw the photograph of my son, Seyi, sitting behind me. That is not acceptable. I will announce to you those people who are supposed to be here.”
Accordingly, he listed the presidential aides permitted to be present at the FEC meeting as his Special Advisers on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Usman; Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga; Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola and Private Secretary, Damilotun Aderemi.
Handing down the instructions to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Head of Service, President Tinubu said; “Those are people who are granted exception to be here when we’re conducting the business of the nation. Unless I send for you, don’t come. Make it clear. Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Head of Service, please take note.”
He further warned; “Unless your staff members that are included, no one is privileged to have access sitting in this (Council Chambers), except those four that I’ve announced to you.”
Meanwhile, the President has rated ‘very highly’ the bilateral and business meetings held on Sunday with visiting German government and business officials, led by the Chancellor of the Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz, even as he appreciated all the Ministers for their attendance at the Cabinet meeting.
While urging them to always think outside the box to hasten the reforms required to attract investors into the country, President Tinubu said; “Yesterday, we had a very good showing and I thank all of you for sharing your Sunday to attend the national event.
“The visit of the Chancellor of the Republic of Germany was, to me, a success. We needed more time, but we were able to cover a lot of ground and must take our reforms seriously; the investors are interested in us…
“As I said, investors and investments are cowardly; they don’t follow conflicts. Think outside the box, how we can do things better.”
