Tinubu targets over 98,000 campaigners in Ondo grassroots push

The Ondo State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Mr Victor Olabimtan, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has directed the group to recruit 25 persons from each of the 3,933 polling units across the state to support his re-election ahead of the 2027 presidential poll.

Olabimtan said the 98,325 recruits—drawn from the polling units—would engage in grassroots mobilisation, with each expected to convince at least five voters to support the President during the election.

He stated this at the inauguration of the Ondo State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Akure, the state capital, on Tuesday.

The coordinator explained that the group was established across the 36 states of the federation to bridge the communication gap between the Renewed Hope Agenda of Tinubu and the intended beneficiaries of the administration’s policies, programmes and projects.

He said, “The President has directed that in each polling unit, we should recruit 25 canvassers. These individuals will be remunerated three months before and two months after the election, and payments will be made directly to them.

“The work of winning elections is at the polling units, not at the ward, state or national level. The target is for each of the 25 canvassers per unit to mobilise at least five voters.

“When multiplied across the state and nationwide, victory is assured. President Tinubu and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa will fund the remuneration.”

Olabimtan, who is also the Chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board, stated that the core objectives of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors include disseminating accurate information about Federal Government policies and obtaining feedback from grassroots communities.

“The RHA is a nationwide initiative aimed at educating Nigerians about the Federal Government’s reforms and opportunities under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The programme seeks to enhance public awareness of ongoing interventions and ensure that citizens are well informed about available opportunities,” he said.

He charged members of the group to play active roles in mobilisation and party outreach across the state.

“Each of you was selected based on your pedigree and track record. You are expected to strengthen connections with All Progressives Congress structures across Ondo State, from the state leadership to local governments and wards.

“This network is designed to promote party unity, ensure consistent messaging and support elected officials in engaging effectively with their communities by providing reliable information on Federal Government programmes,” he added.

Olabimtan, a former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, however, noted that the creation of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors would not disrupt the activities of existing Tinubu support groups in the state.

He also commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his role in the selection of members, assuring that the group would work diligently to achieve its objectives.
