Three children drown in Ondo river

It was grief in Ondo City in Ondo West local government following the drowning of three children in a river in the town.

The children who were aged between seven and 10 had gone to River Oluwa in Sabo area of the town to play and swim when they got drowned.

The news of their demise caused commotion in the community as parents and relations ran to the river to ascertain the identities of those involved.

It was a gory sight for the first responders who rushed to the river to save the children as they were confronted with their lifeless bodies floating on the river.

A visit to the river bank showed the lifeless bodies of the dead children identified as Iyabo Isiaka, Nife Akinnuoye, and Seun Segun.

At the time of the report, no information was available as to how the children got drowned.

However a source said that an unidentified boy who saw the over bloated body of one of the affected children ran home to alert their parents.

At the area, it was observed that many residents wore pensive mood while others wept uncontrollably over the incident.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the drown children have be buried by their parents.
