The way we are going, it appears we are now being made to believe that Nigeria’s democracy is best promoted as a one-party system!
If we believe otherwise, why are some of us demonizing those who are not in our party, and shamelessly championing exclusion of persons from geographical areas where our party did not perform well as if our party-men from those areas are no longer our members, deserving of consideration and support to do better; or as if we are not sensible enough to understand that what poor performance at the polls imply is that there are people and places that we ought to work hard to bring to our side in order for us to become a formidable NATIONAL movement?
Why are we also shamelessly discriminating against the inclusion of professionals because they previously criticised public policies, processes and actions that, in their view, do not promote social harmony and the public good – as if we are not sensible enough to understand that the best received public policies and actions are usually those that also allowed alternative inputs in their formulation?
Why are we going on like this in our dear country? It’s painful to contemplate that some journalists and intellectuals could be found promoting groupthink.
