Civil servants in Ondo State on Wednesday complied with the directive by the state labour leaders directing workers to join the ongoing nationwide strike.
Recall that on Tuesday evening, members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Ondo State said they had joined the ongoing and indefinite nationwide strike as directed by the national secretariats of the two bodies.
A statement jointly signed by the State NLC Chairman, Comrade Victor Amoko and the TUC Chairman, Comrade Clement Fatuase, advised workers in the state to appropriately comply with the strike directive.
But the state organised labour explained that the strike is not against the Ondo State government, but to protest against impunity in the country.
Investigation showed that Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies were shut on Wednesday in compliance with the directive.
This is, however, different from what happened on Tuesday where civil servants shunned the strike and reported at their duty posts across MDAs.
Public schools were equally shut as students were asked to return to their various homes.
Banks and private-owned schools and businesses did not obey the strike as they carried on with their normal activities.
