Osun State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has asked Governor Ademola Adeleke to stop blaming President Bola Tinubu for his political challenges, describing him as the architect of his own misfortunes.

According to a statement by it state Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the governor habitually holds the President responsible for his alleged failure to perform his duties as governor.

It referenced a recent two-day South-West stakeholders’ dialogue in Akure, Ondo State, organized by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, and Afenifere.

Adeleke, at the event, accused the Federal Government of withholding local government funds despite a court order and claimed partisan interference in state governance.

Also, he alleged that President Tinubu has marginalized Osun State in federal dealings.

He had alleged among others that, “Partisan consideration has become the yardstick for federal interactions with Osun, a development that threatens intergovernmental harmony.”

But the statement described these claims as “disheartening” and questioned how the state has been marginalized, citing that in 2024, Osun State was allocated ₦229 billion — a 131% increase over the projected ₦99 billion.

Since 2023, the Tinubu-led Federal Government has committed at least ₦10 billion to education and health programmes in the state, in addition to ₦10 billion for National Assembly constituency projects. TETFUND also provided science and engineering equipment, lecture halls, and solar streetlights worth hundreds of millions of naira to Osun State institutions, while UBEC supplied over 100,000 chairs and tables to primary and junior secondary schools worth ₦5 billion.
.
The Federal Government has also supported the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) with over ₦3 billion in grants.

The APC further noted that the Alternative High School for Girls, inaugurated by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was among Osun’s beneficiaries, but the state government has allegedly neglected the project.

Olabisi said Adeleke appears to expect special treatment from “high up,” which is no longer the practice under President Tinubu’s administration.

“It is either something is fundamentally wrong with Governor Adeleke’s approach to governance, or he is displaying an inferiority complex, inefficiency, and unreadiness for the job he applied for — a development that has made him an outcast among serious governors,” he added.

The APC stressed that Adeleke should stop blaming the President for the failings of his administration, including forcing parents to pay up to ₦1.5 million per session in UNILESA and UNIOSUN, spending ₦13 billion on luxury cars for politicians, and leaving schools and hospitals understaffed. The party described these issues as “self-induced failures.”
